Privacy Policy for Muse Auto

Speak Music Inc. (“us”, “we”, or “our”) produces the Muse Auto device and companion applications and operates the Muse Auto online store and customer service systems (collectively referred to as the “Service”).

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information when you use the Service.

Overview

Our policy reflects our strong belief in accessing the minimum information necessary to provide you with a great experience. We do not automatically collect any personal information. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy. We use your Personal Information for providing and improving the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions.

Registration Information

While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, such as email, address, and phone number, that can be used to contact or identify you. You may share personal information with us by registering for the Service through the companion apps using email and password, or signing in through Amazon, Facebook or Google. You may also register through online tools, such Zendesk, Shopify, and MailChimp, that we use to offer essential services such as customer support, online shopping, and email delivery.

General Use of Information

Your information is used strictly for providing and improving the Service. Information such as name, address, phone number and email address provided directly through registration or through 3rd party authorization is used exclusively to provide customer service and to inform you of important updates related to the Service.

Supporting Services

The use of the Service requires recording of the user's voice commands for Amazon Alexa. We record and forward the voice command uttered by the user to Alexa Voice Services (AVS) after the wake-word “Alexa” is detected by the Service. Confirmation sounds, such as earcons, lights on the device, and status display on the phone/car screen (“Recording Indicators”) indicate when the user's voice is being recorded or transmitted. Once the voice command is delivered by the Service to AVS, the recording stops and the Recording Indicators indicate the end of the recording. Recording does not restart or resume until the wake-word “Alexa” is detected by the Service again or if AVS requires a response from the user in the form of a multi-turn conversation. 

For additional peace of mind, the Muse Auto device features hardware-level mute that turns off all recording when the microphone button on the device is toggled on.

In addition, the Service may utilize integrated third-party tools to perform essential services such as email delivery, analytics, and customer support. These third-party services may require access to your information to perform the required tasks on behalf of the System and are obligated not to disclose or use your information for any other purpose.

Location Information

When prompted by the Service, you may opt to grant access to your location through your mobile device settings. When the location permission is granted, the location information is shared with Alexa Voice Services upon voice command so that the Service can provide location-related features such as localization, points of interest and navigation. You can enable or disable location permissions at any time through your mobile device's settings.

Log Data and Cookies

When you access the Service by or through a mobile device, we may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser you use and other statistics (“Log Data”).

We use cookies to collect standard browser information in order to improve the Service. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. The Help feature on most browsers provides information on how to accept cookies, disable cookies or to notify you when receiving a new cookie. If you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some features of the Service, such as customer support and shopping, and we recommend that you leave them turned on.

Email Subscription Cancellation

When you register for the Service, your email address may be subscribed to our Email Delivery Service for important service updates. If you do not wish to receive email updates from the Service, you can follow the 'Unsubscribe' link provided near the end of the email body. However, we strongly recommend that you remain subscribed so you can receive critical updates regarding the Service, such as any downtime or security alerts.

Erasure and Rectification

If at any point you wish to have your personal data completely removed from the Service, you can email erasure@museauto.com from the email address associated with the account that you wish to be removed. Once we validate the authenticity of your request, we will remove all data associated with your account from the Service.

If you would like your personal data to be rectified, please contact us through Customer Support.

Retention and Deletion

Unless we receive an erasure request from you, we may retain the information within the Service to support your continued use. We reserve the right to delete your account and all related information in the case of inactivity or infeasibility.

Do Not Track Disclosure

We do not support Do Not Track. Do Not Track is a preference you can set in your web browser to inform websites that you do not want to be tracked. You can enable or disable Do Not Track by visiting the Preferences or Settings page of your web browser.

Compliance with Laws

We will disclose your Personal Information where required to do so by law or subpoena or if we believe that such action is necessary to comply with the law and the reasonable requests of law enforcement or to protect the security or integrity of our Service.

Business Transaction

If Speak Music Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, your Personal Information may be transferred as a business asset. In such cases, we will provide notice before your Personal Information is transferred and/or becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

Security

The security of your Personal Information is important to us, and we strive to implement and maintain reasonable, commercially acceptable security procedures and practices appropriate to the nature of the information we store, in order to protect it from unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure. Personal information you share with us, either directly or via third-parties, is securely transmitted using modern cryptography (TLS 1.2; 128 bit). However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and we are unable to guarantee the absolute security of the Personal Information we have collected from you.

International Transfer

Your information, including Personal Information, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ than those from your jurisdiction. If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the information, including Personal Information, to the United States and process it there. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.

Links To Other Sites

The Service may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link or sign-in to a third party service, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

Children’s Privacy

Only persons age 18 or older have permission to access our Service. The Service does not address anyone under the age of 13 (“Children”). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you learn that your Children have provided us with Personal Information, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

Changes To This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is effective as of May 25, 2018, and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in its provisions in the future, which will be in effect immediately after being posted on this page. We reserve the right to update or change our Privacy Policy at any time and you should check this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after we post any modifications to the Privacy Policy on this page will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy. If we make any material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you either through the email address you have provided us or by placing a prominent notice on our website.
